Clarion snake eel

The Clarion snake eel〔(Common names for ''Myrichthys pantostigmius'' ) at www.fishbase.org.〕 (''Myrichthys pantostigmius'') is an eel in the family Ophichthidae (worm/snake eels).〔(''Myrichthys pantostigmius'' ) at www.fishbase.org.〕 It was described by David Starr Jordan and Ernest Alexander McGregor in 1898.〔Jordan, D. S. and B. W. Evermann, 1898 (26 Nov.) (2445 ) ''The fishes of North and Middle America: a descriptive catalogue of the species of fish-like vertebrates found in the waters of North America north of the Isthmus of Panama.'' Part III. Bulletin of the United States National Museum No. 47: i-xxiv + 2183a-3136.〕 It is a tropical, marine eel which is known from Mexico, in the eastern central Pacific Ocean.〔〔(''Myrichthys pantostigmius'' ) at the IUCN redlist.〕 It inhabits shallow waters - at a maximum depth of 20 metres - and is found around rocks and sand. Males can reach a maximum total length of 49.4 centimetres.〔
Due to a lack of known threats and a lack of observed population decline, the IUCN redlist currently lists the Clarion snake eel as Least Concern.〔
